Leros is an island at the southeastern tip of the Aegean in the Dodecanese, northwest of Kalymnos, of which it is a continuation. It has a population of 7,917 inhabitants (2011 census) and an area of 54 km2, with a coastline of 71 km.

Leros is one of the Greek islands that are not yet burdened by mass tourism, but it is growing steadily year after year. This gradual tourist development also contributed to the operation of the Entrance-Exit Gate in the port of Agia Marina. Its main tourist areas are Alinda, Dio Liskaria, Pandeli and other areas, such as Vromolithos with its beach, Gourna, Xirokampos, Partheni and Blefoutis. The Castle of Panagia, built in the eleventh century, overlooks Mount Apitiki above Platanos and opposite Clidi is the highest point of the island with panoramic views. The Leros War Museum is located in Merikia built in a tunnel of World War II.
